The Art of the Experiment
Gestalt therapy is a living, creative practice. Rather than relying solely on insight or interpretation, it invites us into experiences that allow something new to emerge. The experiment is one of its most distinctive expressions.
The Art of the Experiment explores Gestalt experimentation as both a clinical practice and an artistic discipline. Drawing on the phenomenological, relational, and creative foundations of Gestalt therapy, this workshop invites participants to develop the sensitivity to recognize when an experiment is emerging and how to support its unfolding.
Experiments arise through contact, attention to the present moment, and listening to the wisdom of the therapeutic field. They emerge through the relationship between therapist and client, drawing on what is present in the body, emotions, movement, dialogue, and imagination. Like an artist responding to their medium, the Gestalt practitioner learns to work with these elements as they unfold, allowing new possibilities for awareness and relationship to emerge.
Through experiential learning, demonstrations, and practice, participants will explore how experiments can deepen contact, expand awareness, and bring vitality into therapeutic work. We will explore the relationship between creativity and clinical presence, cultivating the capacity to meet each moment with curiosity, responsiveness, and openness.
This workshop is an invitation to rediscover the artistry of Gestalt practice and the ability to create conditions where something new can arise within the therapeutic relationship.
